What a beautiful day, upper 60’s and blue skies, and a tailwind most of the way!! I am not going to know what to do when I get back home to high 90’s of both heat and humidity. We rode along the Erie Canal for a lot of the ride today. The pictures above and below are of the canal. Today was a short 72 miles with only about 1400 ft of climbing, so in terms of the tour a pretty easy day with a tailwind, an ice cream stop and we were in by 1:00.
There is a bike trail that runs alongside the Erie Cancal, and part of the Great Allegheny Passageway, although we did not ride it, as it was mainly crushed limestone and our tires are not made for that type of surface. It would be a great bike ride on another bike with Lynn maybe? It might get a little boring?
Hard to read the sign but it is for the Erie Canal.

One of my FAVORITE words! Knucklehead!! And they have a bar and grill named after it/them. Cathy and I are arguing over who is the knucklehead.
Cathy trying to take a picture of more strawberry fields, corn, barns, and someone was getting in the way. HI!
Nothing like a late morning snack, a little chocolate peanut butter ice cream.
L-R: Pete, Cathy, me, and Mark P.
We are staying in Herkimer, NY tonight.
An action shot from Peyton, the new kid. LOL, everyone calls him the “New Kid”, as a joke, but he is a great guy. He has 4 different part time jobs, and just finished college.
We are staying at the “lovely” Red Roof Inn in Herkimer. I thought they had red roofs?
The map from today and we are heading to Albany tomorrow, around 79 miles or so.
Not a bad average for going real slow today, although it was flat and a slight tailwind. Trying to let the knee recover some, because Wednesday and Thursday will be longer with a lot more climbing.
Thank you for following along with me on this journey, and if you can please make a donation to the Children's Hospital below. 100% of your funds go to the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.

As a non-profit institution, the Children's Hospital provides care to the children who come through its' doors regardless of the family's ability to pay. Caring support from the community allows this level of service to continue.
